Huh. I disagree. It's obvious it's an older movie, but apart from the scenery, I thought it was very well done. The book is even better because it puts a few things into perspective. We still haven't seen the new movie. When weekends roll around, we're always busy painting or doing something else to fill our lives with paper towels and furniture in the wrong rooms. LOL If you read the book, let me know what you think!Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-42303399156441304752011-03-03T16:46:04.784-06:002011-03-03T16:46:04.784-06:00I saw the current film and enjoyed it..but had not...I saw the current film and enjoyed it..but had nothing to go in since I haven't watched the original movie nor have I read the book. He's still alive, so he's had plenty of time to do a lot of movies but I hadn't seen the movie in so long that I didn't realize or remember he was in it. We love the movie. Not one we've memorized quotes from, but I think we'll get it out a lot more, now that we've bothered to watch it, again!Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-28844855754483458092011-02-03T16:27:51.820-06:002011-02-03T16:27:51.820-06:00My hub and I love True Grit and we can quote the w...My hub and I love True Grit and we can quote the whole thing, it seems. I'm so sorry you went through that. I have a friend who just lost her husband to cancer, last year, and she has 5 children from the ages of about 3 to 18. Valentine's Day ads and displays are getting to her, at the moment. There are so many things we don't think about when we haven't gone through them, ourselves.

And, as to the rubber ducky . . . Izzy was actually chewing on the sharp end of my razor, which goes to show how dull I let my razor become before replacing it because she didn't hurt herself (wahoo for that!). She's happy as long as she has something to knock into the tub and try to fish out.Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-11551453420184058302011-02-02T18:50:47.549-06:002011-02-02T18:50:47.549-06:00Good choice on replacing the razor with a rubber d...Good choice on replacing the razor with a rubber ducky...every time I think of razors I think of my son at four who asked, "Mom? It was a nifty learning experience -- hard to think of the Arkansas River (which we cross from Fort Smith on our return journeys home . . . on the bridge . . . the one that got hit by a barge, sending cars flying into the water) as a place that was once crossed by ferry.Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-2247532659186123472011-02-02T17:57:20.352-06:002011-02-02T17:57:20.352-06:00I have to read this! Mattie already made sense to me, from having seen the movie so many times. She's a very pragmatic, determined character and sometimes I thought that came across as amusing, like when she bought her pony and announced, "I shall name him Little Blackie." Like the guy she wheedled out of $12 cared. Glad you enjoyed it so much! For me the book felt too distanced-seemed to lack emotion, but that's all I can come up with. ;)Trish @ Love, Laughter, Insanityhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17225576485797030511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-72589586595540633082011-02-02T10:38:27.137-06:002011-02-02T10:38:27.137-06:00Kathy,
