I do appreciate not feeling overwhelmed by the quantity of books that need to be reviewed. I know what you...You had a better month than I did! I know what you mean about being too tired to read at the end of the day while on vacation. The only reading I get done is on the flights to and fro. Even then, when I flew to Germany, I hardly read a thing. And yes, few books means fewer reviews. :)Leshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08345657431432380804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-86501351859280092432016-08-06T14:46:49.615-05:002016-08-06T14:46:49.615-05:00I'm happy with it. It has taken me a while to ...I'm happy with it. It has taken me a while to relax into and accept a slower reading pace but I'm determined to just enjoy myself, regardless of how many books I read. The Secret of Raven Point is very good. It ended up being something much different from what I expected, which was a good thing. In the Winter Dark is just fabulous writing. It's "early Tim Winton" and therefore, I hear, not his best. Well, if that's so, I cannot wait to read more. He's a brilliant writer. Thanks! Only one book finished, so far. On the plus side, I've already reviewed it. That's definitely one benefit to reading slower - I'm not falling behind on reviews, these days! :)Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-77192888463347446132016-08-05T20:15:39.270-05:002016-08-05T20:15:39.270-05:00Not a bad month at all! I'm really liking the sound of The Secret of Raven Point and In the Winter Dark (despite the animal torture!). Both sound really good. Hope August is a great reading month for you!Ilianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07026669671843769219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-14359743285682086552016-08-04T21:10:23.479-05:002016-08-04T21:10:23.479-05:00Responded! Need to take the time to weed through what's available. It's a great book. I was really enjoying it when I had to quit!Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-15614376466205366272016-08-03T20:16:28.147-05:002016-08-03T20:16:28.147-05:00To avoid spoilers on here, I just tweeted you abou...To avoid spoilers on here, I just tweeted you about The Fireman! lol I have Gone with the Wind. But, we had . . . um, 8 flights total? I should have read more. I ended up mostly watching movies on the longer flights. They've moved the light switches to the side of the plane instead of over your head and sometimes you end up shining the reading light in the next guy's eyes. So weird. I decided not to mess with it after having to get the guy next to me to adjust a light that was shining on him instead of my book.

As to The Fireman . . . I will say that I was at least happy that he saved most of the violence till the last 1/3 of the book. For a long time, it was mostly about survival in the camp and there wasn't all that much. But, when it became violent, it was really gruesome. He's such a terrific writer than I really wish he'd focus his efforts on something like suspense. He could certainly terrify a reader without shredding characters.
