He seems quite a gifted writer; I liked his perceptive descriptions in the rather sad story. I didnt realize either that the Childs family were in Olmstead's other novels. thx for your review. I could read him again some other time. My review of it is at http://www.thecuecard.com/node/773 . cheers thecuecardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08870323589682197091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-75958180794910791062012-05-02T07:58:43.912-05:002012-05-02T07:58:43.912-05:00Oh, I hope you love it when you do, Jenclair. I hadn't heard much about this one, but now I am super interested in checking it out. I loved this review because it was full of passion and fondness for the book. Off to look for this one right now. I loved Part I so much that I kept thinking, "But, I have to know what happens to Henry. I have to know about his time in Korea!" And, finally, I did. It really is a stunning story. And, oh how grateful it made me. My father was a corpsman on a hospital ship during the Korean War. Other navy corpsmen were on the front lines, treating soldiers and dying in equal numbers while my father was in one of the safest places a man could be. I think that connection to the Korean War was a major part of what kept calling me back.Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-75793542818850212652012-04-30T23:46:25.510-05:002012-04-30T23:46:25.510-05:00This one sounds quite interesting.
