It's my bloggiversary!

Technically, yesterday was my bloggiversary but I was too tired to go buy the cake and candles, so I'm celebrating, today.

In case your math is fuzzy, I began blogging on June 6, 2006. I've been blogging for a dozen years! True, I took a couple breaks during which I thought I'd given up for good but they ended up not lasting all that long.

I had a bit of a snafu during the photography process:

It turns out Fiona likes frosting. Yes, she licked the cake. I wiped the frosting off, shooed her away and gave her some dental treats. It was nice of her to try to help, though.

  1. Loved seeing Fiona getting in on the act! Congratulations on your bloggiversary. It's so great to see those who are entering into their teen years :) Wishing you many more years!

    1. It was pretty funny when Fiona came to check out the cake. Wasn't thrilled about her licking it, though! LOL Thanks! I can't believe I've been doing this for so long. A lot of early bloggers have moved on. I'll always miss the community atmosphere of the early days.

  2. Happy blogoversary! My kitties like the strangest things. Chocolate chip teddy grahams and pepper jack cheez-its being two of the weirdest.

    1. Aren't they funny? Isabel goes absolutely crazy for strawberry cake and Fiona was just off her rocker when we ate chicken, one day. She climbed up on David and had her paws on his chest, looking at the chicken in his hand. It was hilarious because she loves him but the closest she usually gets to him is to jump up on the back of a chair to beg for head rubs when she sees him coming. Our dearly departed Miss Spooky was crazy about broccoli and nacho cheese Doritos. I kid you not.

  4. I may have to save your "12 cake" for my twelfth blogiversary, which isn't until January. I started in 2007. Yes, we are among the few who remain from the early book blogging community. I miss what we had, but look how far we've come! Congratulations on your stick-to-itiveness.

    1. You're welcome to use the image, Bonnie. I chose to photograph my own cake because it appeared that most of the images online were likely copyrighted - stock images or from sites through which you might need permission. I wondered when you started. Seems like we've known each other forever! Thanks!

    2. I not only saved your cake photo, but today it has been posted on my blog, as I celebrate 12 years, too. Here's where to find it:

  7. Happy happy blogiversary! Twelve years, wow. I'm close behind you... I think it's cute you have a cake to celebrate. All I ever do is make a brief post- I don't usually even mention it to anyone in my household (they don't pay attention to my blogging). Maybe this year I'll treat myself.

I often wonder what happened to some of the bloggers who were well-known when I started out- and then just disappeared. I guess they moved on.

    1. Thanks, Jeane! Yep, I knew you started around the same time I did. I got that single slice of cake at Walmart, of all places. The grocery store cake isn't as good (or as pretty), so I've done the same thing a few times with slightly different decorations and plates. Go for it!

I think a lot of bloggers from our generation (I think of us as second gen -- after the earliest bloggers, who were mostly lit bloggers, not the casual sort) have decided to pack it in or just let their blogs fade away. I know several, though, who meant to come back and just never managed to, after a long break.

  9. Happy Blogiversary! I missed mine 12 year mark this past February. Had a post drafted, but never got around to polishing it before sharing. Ah, well. A dozen years, though! Who would have thought we'd be here this long, right? Here's to another dozen! Congrats!

    1. I miss mine, now and then. This year, I remembered it but didn't make it out to buy the cake in time for the right day. But, I thought a dozen years was worth acknowledging. I know -- I never would have expected to last this long as a blogger! Andi had to talk me into starting a blog in the first place. LOL Happy 12th to you, too! I don't know about another dozen years. Hmm. Maybe. ;)
