LOL Seriously, I just adore Desiree and it must have been one of my mother's favorites because she was not one to hang onto much of anything. The fact that she kept the book for decades speaks volumes. The fact that I stole it is another story. ;)

Oooh, I'll have to look up The String in the Harp!!! I've been to Wales very briefly (on that same trip, when I was 17 years old). I didn't get to see all that much, but Llandudno is charming. And, I had the best cheese I've ever tasted in Wales, although it could be partly the fact that we were too busy running from flat to train to touristy sites to train to flat to spend much time eating (IOW, I was starving).

Brittanie,

Me, too. Let's grab Inside a Book and head to Ireland, shall we? I've often thought Ireland would be a great place to hold a book blogger gathering. I've got to read that Guernsey book. Bellezza sent me a copy and I still haven't gotten to it. I've been to Chicago but I was pretty young and spent most of my time at my aunt and uncle's house. I'd love to go back, especially for the sake of visiting some of the museums.

Both of you have chosen places I'd beg to tag along! :)Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-57069501082839844382010-11-22T19:48:49.842-06:002010-11-22T19:48:49.842-06:00The first place that pops into my head that I want...The first place that pops into my head that I want to go is Ireland. Mainly because of reading Scarlett the sequel to Gone With The Wind. It was really good. I think Guernsey would be fun too. That is one of my favorite books. Ohh Chicago because of one of my all time favorite series is set there, The O Malley series by Dee Henderson. :)Brittaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00756341697752152164noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-82826340279965135972010-11-22T18:06:40.147-06:002010-11-22T18:06:40.147-06:00Wow!! (seriously though it is going to the top of my holiday book request list though.)

What a terrific review!

After reading a Newbery Honor book a few year's back called The String in the Harp by Nancy Bond, I have a serious love affair with Wales and Ireland. The book was awesome and had such a sense of place that I was transported. Give me some mist, a lot of green and rolling hills and I think I'll be just fine. Oh and if you could throw in Taliesin, the bard from 6th century Wales as well that would be great!

Thanks for the temptation....Inside A Bookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16962025550367558251noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-28998540051857820592010-11-22T15:38:39.701-06:002010-11-22T15:38:39.701-06:00Kathy,

And, I haven't yet read that book set on Guernsey, but I read about the Channel Islands many, many years ago and have wanted to go there, since.Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-92201356535491639772010-11-22T15:34:14.412-06:002010-11-22T15:34:14.412-06:00That book sounds so good to me. I can't think of any place I've traveled because of a book, but I can think of lots of places I'd like to travel to because of them.bermudaonionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10726401178972099557noreply@blogger.com
