I'm just not sure I have the determination to "slog" through any part of a book.Framedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13703547279309902320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-90192401483593881362010-05-21T20:30:46.605-05:002010-05-21T20:30:46.605-05:00Kathy,
If you've read anything by Georgette H...Kathy,

If you've read anything by Georgette Heyer, that's about the closest comparison I can make. Heyer's books are heavy in Regency lingo, but once you learn a bit of the lingo and adjust to her writing style, her books are so charming that you want to read them all. I wouldn't call The Brothers of Gwynedd "charming" but it's similar in that it takes a bit of adjustment, but then you start to get into the swing of things and really enjoy the reading.

Hopefully, I'll still feel like it's worth the effort in August. :)Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-51207315676359752142010-05-21T20:09:03.082-05:002010-05-21T20:09:03.082-05:00It seems like everyone's struggled to get into...It seems like everyone's struggled to get into this book. It surprised me when I finally hit the point that the reading no longer seemed exhausting (definitely after getting to know all the characters).

And, you're welcome. I enjoyed your review. :)Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-30714737996320005832010-05-21T16:59:08.855-05:002010-05-21T16:59:08.855-05:00I think you are right when you say that you need t...I think you are right when you say that you need time to adjust to this author's writing style. At the beginning I wasn't sure I would like it, but I think that I am getting used to the writing style now, as well as getting past all the initial set up and getting to know all the characters now.

Thanks for linking to me.Marghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13508430635744720721noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-78884147424617102912010-05-21T08:57:56.881-05:002010-05-21T08:57:56.881-05:00Jenclair,

Maybe you can locate a copy in time for at least one or two of the discussions?

That's actually a neighborhood cat, Slim, in my header (although there's no shortage of Fiona pics on this blog!). Isn't he something? He was enjoying the sun, lolling around in one of our patio chairs. Fiona is not allowed outdoors, for her safety, but she's managed to sneak out a few times. She finds the outdoors full of fascinating smells and just a wee bit terrifying.Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29370872.post-5516477557588383252010-05-21T08:49:25.230-05:002010-05-21T08:49:25.230-05:00Now I'm sorry I didn't accept this offer!
