It took me forever to get a decent hawk photo and we ended up pulling onto a very iffy almost-gravel, mostly-mud road where somebody is supposedly going to build houses (so far, all they've done is rip out trees and cause massive erosion). But, I'm excited to finally have a photo of one of the local hawks. This was taken just a couple blocks from the road that intersects our street - about a quarter- to a half-mile from our home. He spotted me just as I took the photo above, and then . . .
. . . oh, utter coolness.

ReplyDeleteI've been watching the local hawks for months but this is the first time I've managed to find a spot to pull over because of our shoulder-less roads. Yippee! I was giddy; the teenager was terrified we were about to get stuck in the mud. LOL

ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful!!. Hubby and I live in town, but a few streets behind us is a big lake. One evening this summer a hawk came and landed in one of the larger trees on the edge of our yard. I'm assuming it came because of the nearby water. I think hubby and I stood outside watching it for half an hour. They are such lovely birds and are just breathtaking to watch.

ReplyDeleteThat must have been an awesome experience! We haven't ever noticed hawks in our neighborhood till recently. I don't know if we weren't paying attention or this has been a unique year, but we had one land in the tree right outside our kitchen window. I went running for the camera and crashed into my son, who heard me squeal and rushed to the kitchen to see what was up. Breathtaking is right! I could stand around watching them all day. Of course, that hawk was gone by the time we were done running into each other. LOL
