Yes, someone in this household is was immersed in Harry Potter
Youngster wisely went to bed at a reasonable hour and sent his father to stand in the midnight line for his Harry Potter book. Here he is in Cleveland, Mississippi - where we spent the day at the long-course state swim meet held at Delta State University - Harry Potter in hand.

Thank you for visiting my blog! I use comment moderation because apparently my blog is a spam magnet. Don't worry. I hope he is enjoying his book!! Isn't it great to see your kids excited about something literary??
ReplyDeleteStephanie,
ReplyDeleteHe finished last night, around 11:30 or so, and really enjoyed it - I think he's satisfied with how she wrapped things up. Yes, it's always great to see the kids excited about anything literary. Both of mine are avid readers, which makes me glow with pride. :)
It's great to see a photo of a young man with book in hand. I'm happy mine are readers, too. It makes me proud, too! And I'm glad he enjoyed the book :)
ReplyDeleteGentle Reader,
ReplyDeleteIt's great, isn't it? My son always has a book with him - to the point that he's been nicknamed "Books", at school.
A nice looking young man, and the book just adds extra eye appeal.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bybee. I agree. :)
ReplyDeleteB. gives me neverending amounts of grief about my Harry Potter obsession, but we were at Petsmart cat shopping yesterday (didn't get one), and saw a woman come out of the break room with her copy in tow. Ha! There are others like me!
ReplyDeleteI haven't finished yet because I got a late start with all the hospital jumping, but today will be devoted solely to Potterness.
Glad youngster was satisfied with the ending. I hope I say the same when I'm done.
Andi
My little boy (admittedly he's only 2) gets very excited by books. I'm hoping to keep that up through his childhood...
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I finished it at 10pm last night. And I only got it in the mail on Saturday at 4pm. And I still got plenty of sleep, went to church, and ran a couple errands all in those hours!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I got a hold of a Time Turner and didn't even know it...
Aw, this is a great pic!
ReplyDeleteAndi,
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy the book as much as Will did. Don't let B give you a hard time. Just tell him if he pesters you, it also makes a good weapon. ;)
Heidijane,
Both of mine went through slumpy phases around age 10 or so. I got one through by finding anything I could about planes and the other was into survival. Eventually, they both branched out and read more. I think it's kind of critical to find what interests your child if and when they go through that kind of phase. Seems to have worked for us, anyway.
Angela,
LOL! Good one! My son finished up on Saturday evening, in spite of a busy swim day (he did have some road time for reading). It would have probably taken me at least 3 days to read.
Iliana,
Thanks. :)
Awww, nice picture!
ReplyDeleteMy 16-year isn't into Harry Potter but it didn't stop her from going to the big party that our bookstore put on for its launch.
I'm glad to hear your kids are avid readers Nancy, my kids used to be, but sadly I don't see them read all that much anymore. I'm wondering what I can do to change that?
Lotus,
ReplyDeleteThank you.
As to encouraging your kids to read, I think everyone goes through a phase of disinterest - or most everyone - and the key is to find topics that excite them. For a time, the only books Will would read were those that had a survival theme. And, then he gradually branched back out. He reads quite a variety, now.
