  • Leopard at the Door by Jennifer McVeigh - from Putman for review

Books finished since last Malarkey:

  • Appointment in Samarra by John O'Hara
  • Think Happy, Be Happy by Workman Publishing

Currently reading:

  • Wild Pork and Watercress by Barry Crump (the book upon which the movie The Hunt for the Wilderpeople is based - loved the movie, so I ordered the book).
  • Rebirth by Kamal Ravikant - Haven't gotten much farther into this one but it's a light read so I'll probably quickly finish it up after I'm done with Wild Pork and Watercress.

Last week's posts:

I've opted not to take my annual holiday break because I still have a lot of catching up to do, but we've been cleaning our attic and I couldn't possibly count the number of bins we've emptied or trips to the rescue mission Huzzybuns has driven. We even found something we brought from Oklahoma. That was, um, decades ago. I don't know how long it's going to take to finish up the job, so I can't predict whether or not I'll manage to post, again, before the end of the year. We shall see. If I can squeeze in a review or two, I will.

In other news:

Nobody climbed the tree, this year, although the kitties did pull a few ornaments off the tree (which may be a little bit crooked, at this point, from some of the yanking) and Fiona had a particularly great time batting at ornaments. No problem; we actually hang a few that are unbreakable near the bottom of the tree for the kitties to knock down. I confess it was a little disappointing not having to pull Isabel out of the tree. We've definitely gotten a lot of laughs out of her climbing, in the past.

I had such a pleasant Christmas with family that I forgot to post happy Christmukkah wishes to all who are celebrating Christmas or Hanukkah. And, today I must say Happy Kwanzaa, as well, although Kwanzaa is a holiday I don't know enough about. Better read up.

  1. I don't know if I'll catch up with reviews by year's end. I really want to but have been sick and too exhausted. It's kind of sad when the kitties get older and don't get into as much mischief.

    1. I wouldn't push it, since you've been sick. Let yourself recover and then you can catch up, later. Hope you feel better, soon! It sure seems like everyone I know who has had the crud this year has gotten it bad.

Yes, kind of sad. I didn't expect to miss the tree climbing! It was pretty funny, though. We got a kick out of it, for sure.

  2. Chloe was in my Christmas tree so much that she almost knocked it over yesterday. I took it down. lol I couldn't take the constant annoyance of trying to get her out of it any longer. Hopefully she will make out better next year. lol

    1. Yeah, that's the biggest concern - that the tree will come crashing down and cause all sorts of destruction or hurt the cat in the process. Been there. I think I'm going to go ahead and take my tree down, tomorrow, even though we haven't had that problem, this year. It took 5 Christmases for Isabel to outgrow her tree climbing, so you may have a few more years of fun. :)

  3. We did serious purge of junk in the basement last year and we'll probably do it a little bit again before next summer. Always a nice feeling to get rid of unused things, isn't it?

I am too far behind to even contemplate catching up on all my reviews for 2016, but I hope to do better next year.

    1. This is the first time we've really tackled the attic hard, since we moved, although we've done a bit, here and there. It's a job and a half, but definitely a great feeling to see so much unnecessary stuff going out the door for good.

Yep, I've pretty much realized there's no way I'll be done reviewing everything by the end of the year. Oh, well. I'll do my best to get close. :) Here's hoping we both do better in 2017!

    1. Ha, yeah, that's probably true of my reviewing, also. Let's face it, we'd rather be reading than writing about what we've read, most of the time, right?

Think Happy, Be Happy is fun. It's fluffy but a good one for right before starting a new year, definitely.

    1. There were just three of us, plus youngest son's girlfriend (some of the time) so it was a fairly subdued holiday, but a fun one. Kiddo has gone back home and I've got one more week to enjoy the husband's company. He's a bit of a slavedriver, but I like having him around. ;)

    1. Thanks, Paula! I've got the McVeigh book by my bed. Hope to get to it in January. It sounds so good.
