Brief Chunkster Note

Yawwwwn. No, no, the chunkster really isn't doing that to me! Okay, yes, some days . . .

Just a brief note on the Chunkster Challenge. I neglected to answer the following question:

Question: When I finish my chunkster, should I zip over and let you know?

Answer: Let's just wait, shall we? Not that I don't want to hear about your victories - do feel free to come over and share your joy. Post-wise, though, I'm not going to start up a list because I prefer not to spend 6 months updating one post and moving its date forward. Were I better at this blogging business, I'd probably know how to just stick an adorable link or list in the sidebar. But, I'm not and I don't. So, I'm going to ask participants to post a message about their success in June.

In brief: Sometime between June 1 and June 30, let me know the title(s) and author(s) of completed chunksters (page number would be great, also, if you can hang onto the info) and I will list all who succeeded and hold another drawing. Hope that's peachy with everyone. Feel free to tell me what you think or teach me how to create some kind of nifty sidebar thing that would make it an easier process to keep track.

Read on, dudes and dudettes

  1. Good evening. I just wanted to let you know I got the wonderful tote in the mail yesterday. Thank you so much, Nancy!

  2. Reporting back in June sounds like a good plan bookfool! I have started on my first chunkster, but as I am reading something else alongside it, I have no idea when I will complete it! :)

But if things go smoothly, I should be done three chunksters by June.

Again, thanks for initiating this terrific challenge!

  3. Sounds good to me. I'll keep on task about it then. :)

  4. Wendy,

Yay! Thanks for letting me know it arrived. I hope you enjoy it!

    Lotus,

I keep reading bits of my chunkster with others alongside and then I stop to finish up the side books. I may flunk my own challenge, if I keep this up. LOL I hope not! You and I have the same goal. We'll have to nudge each other, now and then. :) And, you're welcome.

    Krista,

Thanks, babe. I like the way you put that, "keep on task". Sounds like something my husband would say, for some reason.

  5. Works for me, Bookfool. I'm just rounding the last 50 pages on my first chunkster. I love this chunkster challenge. Thanks so much for initiating it.

  6. Booklogged,

Thanks and good for you!! I keep thinking if I can ever get past the halfway point, it'll be downhill from there, but I'm stuck just shy of halfway on my chunkster. I'm glad you're having fun!!

Reporting in June sounds great! That way I won't feel like I'm out of the running if I don't get any farther than I am now. Purely pychological.

  8. Good point, Carrie.

I know things work that way for me; I tend to get bogged down when I think I'm falling behind. It's such a sad, primitive characteristic, but there you have it. That's probably why I said the Chunkster Challenge is a self-challenge, not a competition - because I prefer it that way. :)

  9. I'm so glad you don't have to report in until June. I was getting anxious because I felt like I was falling (too many books and just too little time)!! I've been slowly working on Outlander but I've been too distracted to really jump into it. Hopefully this weekend will lead to some power reading hehehe

  10. I'm glad you suggested June. I'm starting out a bit slowly, but by June, I will have quite a bit more Chunkster under my belt. I hope that's only in the literary sense, BTW.

  11. Late June is good for me too. I've finished my first Chunkster, but I'd like to finish the other 3 that I promised myself and maybe 2 others before my time is up. (I like to REALLY challenge myself and since I am such a fast reader, it takes some doing.) Can hardly wait to hear everyone else's experiences with their Chunksters!

  12. Emily,

I can relate. It didn't occur to me that reading that others were succeeding while some of us feel like we're falling behind would be intimidating, but I'm one of those in the "behind" category, myself.

BTW, I loved Outlander. I had to lock myself away to get it finished, though. The ending was, I thought, horrible - so I haven't yet moved on in that series, although I plan to. Hope you enjoy it. :)

    Bybee,

You're such a nut. And, I mean that in the kindest of ways. :) I have a little too much chunkster under my belt, at the moment - think maybe I should join a diet challenge group, if there is such a thing!

    kookiejar,

You're too fast for me! I like the way you're thinking, though. If a challenge isn't challenging, you can always find a way to make it so. Congrats on finishing your first! Yep, it will be loads of fun to see how everyone has done, in June. :)
