  1. Love it! I wish I'd taken pics of my students' smiley faces when I showed up with candy tonight. hehe

    Great pics!

  2. Andi,

Aren't they all so cute? This is just the second year I've taken photos of the kids dressed up and they ridiculously excited (without even having ingested the sugar - ha!). Most are very happy to pose.

    Thanks!

  3. Sweet, Bookfool! And you are giving out the good stuff. Good for you.

  4. Yeah, Kookie. We have sort of an unspoken policy that we don't give away candy we wouldn't want to eat. It's pays back during the low traffic years. This year we ran out, which is much better for the diet. :)

  5. Awww, what lovely pictures of the tricksters, Nancy! I like your policy of not giving away candy you wouldn't like to eat. Wish more people thought like you. Happy Halloween albeit a day late!

  7. Lotus,

Thank you. My parents only gave away the good candy, too. I liked the way they thought. We completely forgot to try to keep count of how many kids dropped by, but we had some huge groups and I think it would have been hard to keep count, anyway. I'm guessing we had about 150 trick-or-treaters. It was a big year for us!! The mosquitoes were biting, but it was only in the 70's outside - really, just about as good as it gets. :)

Happy belated Halloween to you, too!

    Maggie,

We were swamped. I guess just because the weather was perfect (aside from the mosquitoes and a bit of mugginess), everyone was out. If it's too cold or too hot, we tend to not get quite so many kids. Someone in our neighborhood was giving away bags of chips! Kiddo said he saw Cheetos and Doritos in most of the bags. Funny!

And all the smiles. Great pictures!

  9. Nikki,

They were a happy bunch, weren't they? The vampire saw my camera and said, "Uh. I lost my fangs." He rustled around in his little pumpkin bag and found them, stuck them in his mouth and posed! It was so cute! We smiled a lot, last night. :)

  10. Why didn't I think of taking pictures? Great idea that has me smiling at all of your trick-or-treaters!

  11. Jenclair,

Last year was the first year I took photos of the kids - really, as boredom relief. I've hated Halloween since the year my mother dressed me in a foil-covered box and a plastic mask . . . as the tin man. Oh, cruel mother. I got the kiddo to pass out the candy, but he wanted someone to chat with and I brought my camera for grins. I was surprised at how much the kids loved to have their pictures taken. You should definitely take photos, next year. It's loads of fun just looking back at all the cute costumes and smiling faces. :)

  12. OMG! Where has the year gone? I remember your pictures from last year!!

We're not into Halloween so after handing candy out to our two little nieces (and a half-dozen neighborhood kids) we high-tailed it to a nearby restaurant with some good friends. Had a lovely evening and came home to a quiet and dark neighborhood. Thankfully, nobody tossed our pumpkin in the driveway! ;)

Now to figure out what to do with all the yummy candy I bought - just in case we had a hundred kids between 5-7. Kit-Kat bars and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Sigh. We've both lost 11 lbs. and there's just no way I can keep that stuff in the house. I guess I'll take it to work. Maybe one won't hurt... ;)

  13. Les,

    I know; it flew by.

Halloween has always been my least favorite holiday. I always desired to cower in the bedroom till it ended, but having kids and then a teenager who loves Halloween so much that he dresses up to hand out candy have forced me to deal with it. Taking photos makes it more fun. Everyone was happy and most were anxious to pose when they saw the camera.

I need to lose 11 pounds. Times about 4 or 5. :) We love our chocolate, though. The kiddo talked me into buying some on sale, post-holiday. We'll see how well the self-control thing works.
