ReplyDeleteYeah, that's kind of the point. We were just talking about the trip to Costa Rica, the other day. It's the first place we've gone as a family and not had to buy an item or two of clothing because we packed badly. Because, you see, usually we head north. And, we never think to take a jacket. We have several jackets (and a couple of warm hats and sweatshirts) embroidered with the names of the places we visited -- not because we want to show off the fact that we've been to Alaska or wherever, but because we were freezing our patooties.
We do the same thing (buy clothes because we pack badly). I had to buy a pair of shorts on Mount Hood a few weeks ago because we were going down into the valley where it was in the high 80s and all I had was snow clothes.
ReplyDeleteAlso, my husband has a lot of clothes from the store at the university where he works because he's always forgetting things. He rides his bike and packs his work clothes. One time he grabbed my slacks instead of his. :) Thank goodness for the university store! He was at least able to wear OSU shorts for the day.

ReplyDeleteThat's so funny. It's always jackets, with us. We just have so much trouble imagining that any place can be cold in June or July, I guess. We've had the A/C on for the better part of the last 3 months.
Your husband sounds like mine. Is he the absent-minded professor type? Mine has a PhD and he acts like it. He's completely wacky. Speaking of OSU . . . we're both alums of the other OSU -- Oklahoma State University. So, we've got some OSU shorts, but I'm sure they're not quite the same colors. LOL

Thanks. That's Arenal (on the opposite side of the volcano from the well-known observatory). It's a beautiful place.
I love reading trip posts and seeing pictures. Looks like a beautiful spot.

ReplyDeleteI keep thinking I'm going to start a Costa Rica blog, but I haven't gotten around to it. I'll probably have forgotten everything that happened by the end of the month. We had such a great time there. It's a beautiful country.

ReplyDeleteIsn't it lovely? It's a great place for luggage dragging, bird watching, hiking, photography, and all sorts of other activities. But, it's a hard place to find a Coke. LOL

Thanks. Costa Rica is so pretty. We usually screw up because we head north, but we went to a warm climate, for once. Well. No problem. We know how to dress for heat. LOL
Going to non-exotic English-speaking places definitely has distinct advantages.

ReplyDeleteThey were rolling luggage away from the place we stayed for our last two nights in Costa Rica. I had to stay behind while they went on a boat tour (because I had a killer migraine), but it wasn't a problem. You can see I had some pretty scenery for walking around & photographing flowers and birds, once I got the migraine under control. :)
Is that a volcano in the foreground? If it is, it looks happily inactive tho there are some clouds hovering over it. Would love to see Costa Rica some day.

ReplyDeleteYes, that's a volcano at Arenal and it's allegedly the second most active volcano in the world. It was gently puffing the whole time we were there, but the wind blows toward the other side of the volcano, so you see the big smoky clouds on the opposite side but less so on the side were were on (I do have some close-ups of the smoke). One of our drivers said, "She is a-sleeping," so it was definitely not at its most active.
