Fiona Friday

In which Fiona becomes a raving lunatic over paper towels:

Pardon the messy floor and wall. We're preparing to put down new kitchen flooring so nobody cares if the floor gets paint-dribbled. It'll be covered by new flooring, soon enough.

  1. Our dog used to act like that over paper towel rolls.

  2. Kathy,

It's fun to watch, isn't it? But, a bit of a pain cleaning up paper towel bits every day. I think I'll be somewhat relieved when the kitten days end.

  3. So cute...I so wish I wasn't allergic to cats. I think I could just sit and watch them play all day :) They're so adorable. And cuddly. And they just seem to be a cozy reader's best friend, don't they?

  4. I saw the Fiona Friday title, and having just seen the newest Shrek movie today my mind automatically went to that Fiona. Cute kitty pic though! :)

  5. So cute! I was starting to get scared she wasn't getting a picture yesterday (went to bed early so missed it). I love Fiona Fridays!

  6. Chris,

Cats are definitely cool. We went to Jackson, yesterday, and were seriously tempted to get another kitty because they had a big litter at Petsmart. It was so, so hard walking away. So far, Fiona is not a great pal for reading but she does at least stay nearby -- usually on the floor, these days. I think she'll eventually calm down and become a bit more cuddly when she gets past the kitten years. Cats are usually terrific reading buddies. We're not quite there, yet, though!

Sorry you're allergic to kitties. I am, too, believe it or not -- but nothing serious. Still, I made sure we got a kitty with very short fur, for the sake of all the snifflers in the family.

    Alyce,

I'd completely forgotten there was a Princess Fiona in Shrek till Heather (Capricious Reader) mentioned her, because I only saw the first movie . . . and didn't really like it, actually. My son suggested the name Fiona because he likes Burn Notice and it just happens to be an old favorite name of mine, so it was sort of a compromise. He had to agree we weren't naming the cat after a "trigger-happy ex-girlfriend".

    Amy,

I was so tired I almost forgot about Fiona Friday and was on the verge of shutting down the computer early, but then I remembered. It's funny -- I take hardly any photos, these days, but there are always plenty of Fiona pics to choose from. She's so funny that I find myself running for the camera a lot. Last night, she climbed through our window blinds. I've got to get a shot of that. At one point, half of her body was sticking out from the blinds and at another point it was just blinds and tail. She is such a nut.

  7. I'm not sure which to comment on--the tongue or those claws!! Maggie's too old (and boring) for such play things but our cats growing up used to go crazy over paper and boxes--couldn't leave either out without them getting eaten to shreds.

  8. Trish,

Those claws are kind of wicked-looking, aren't they? Fi is just a little too active for us to have figured out how to trim claws -- nobody has the courage to give it a go. Fortunately, she really doesn't scratch us at all. She just uses them to play and climb. The tongue had us laughing. I don't know if she was trying to take a bite of the towel or what, but she's like a toddler. Everything goes into the mouth. We have to really watch the floors to make sure there's nothing hazardous lying about.

  10. SuziQ,

LOL! I'm thinking that's a direct translation of what the cat's thinking. :)

  11. I used to know a cat that would launch itself down a flight of stairs if an open paper bag was left out. He would zoom from across the room into the bag and slide down the stairs, only to meow until he could do it again.

  12. Serena,

Paper bag skiing! LOL Cats are really hilarious, aren't they? I think the post-skiing whine-fest would get on my nerves, but that had to be pretty funny to watch.
