Fiona Friday - A little this, a little that, both kitties & an Armchair BEA comment

First the kitties . . . Fiona hasn't been particularly cooperative about posing, this week, so this is pretty much all I've got of her . . . which really just goes to show that we need a lawn service which involves more than mowing alone. Our jungle is getting a bit intense when you can barely see out the window.

Isabel was really my star subject, this week. She crawled under my mother's cedar chest and reached out to play with Fiona (who disappeared the moment the camera came out). I'm not sure exactly how she managed to get under there, but she continued to play with Kiddo and moi after Fiona left.

Eventually, she ended up on top of the IKEA cabinets with a look of pure "Blah, I've had it. Nap time!"

The Armchair BEA question of the day that I've chosen is, "How do you keep your blog fresh?" I don't know that I do. Occasionally, I feel like my blog becomes "same old, same old" and I do try to liven it up. It's true that you never know what I'll write about. A family anecdote may sneak in or a picture of a ghost (previous post). If I'm having difficulty writing about a book, I go with the so-called "self-interview", which most people seem to enjoy as a change of pace. And, I do try not to keep all my reviews so formal as to make you think the author likely has a bad wheeze and a cane. Fiona Friday, fairly regular photographs, and book reviews are my constants. I could probably stand some tips on freshening up the blog.

  1. Well, I like your blog just fine, especially Fiona Fridays, but you know that. ;)

  2. Jenny,

That's no help! LOL Thank you. Yes, I guess I knew that. :)

  3. I like the way it is too. Now if only I could find time to blog.

  4. Thanks, Krista!

You've got a lot on your plate, right now. I think if I were you, I'd just set blogging aside and enjoy the kids and all that other fun stuff you're doing. You can always come back when you've got one in preschool and the other in elementary. That day will come. :)

  5. I'm new around here, but I like what I see so far! I'm a big fan of kitty pics (I post them occasionally too) and your two are adorable!

  6. avisannschild,

I know you've been around for a while because we've crossed paths, before. I'm glad you like my little corner of the blogging world. I'll have to check out your blog, too. Fiona Friday is a regular feature and my kitties are still both young and adventurous, so there are always plenty of kitty pics to be found, here! :)

  7. I think you've photoshopped Isabel. She's being a very playful model. Great pix.

  8. You have kitties, kitties make everything fresh. :)

Plus I enjoy the content :)

  9. Carrie,

I wish. I don't own a copy of Photoshop. Yes, she's been very playful, this week - maybe too playful. She seems to have suddenly decided the piano is a climbing toy. Not good.

LOL That's true. Kitties are made of awesome freshness.

    Many thanks!

  10. Adorable photos as always! And I would say that your blog is definitely always fresh and interesting :)

  11. Amy,

Thanks! And, thank you for that. I should probably not worry so much about content. Blogging is just a hobby, after all! :)

  12. I like your blog just the way it is, Bookfool. There's something to be said for consistency, as opposed to someone from Italy I know who changes all too often. Even going so far, once, as to change from Blogger to Wordpress...

I finally took your nudge and posted on Samantha. And, I stole a few of Fiona. Come see.

  13. Isabel looks like she's got eyeliner on! :)

  14. Bellezza,

Why thank you, my friend. LOL about the changes. It's okay to have fun changing your background and header. I like to stick with one for a while, but I can't bear to leave the same thing up for too long, so I know the feeling.

Wahoo for Samantha pics! I just left a comment. Fiona is hiding or I'd tell her about her fame spreading on the interwebz. ;)

I know, isn't that cool? The Schwan's man says Isabel has "Cleopatra eyes." He has 5 kitties, so we consider him an expert. :)

  15. Great blog Bookfool (kind of feel uncomfortable calling you that), anyway I'm wondering if you would be interested in a link exchange. Let me know if you do and take care!

  16. The kitty peeking out is adorable, but really, all of the photos that you posted are great today. I also don't really know that I do things to keep my blog fresh, as I pretty much do the same things all the time. It works for me, and I haven't gotten too many complaints, so I guess I will just keep things the way they are!

  17. That last pic of Isabel is a classic!

  18. Cathy,

Thanks! You can call me Nancy, if you prefer. I don't see a blog associated with your ID, so it would just depend on what you're referring to, exchange-wise (meaning, I'd have to see your blog or website).

Thank you! I've never gotten any complaints, but I guess how I feel about my blog is kind of like how I feel about the interior of my house. Sometimes it gets a little tiresome and I have to change it up. I don't do much, though. Some of the things in my sidebar have been there for at least 4 years. LOL

Isn't that a hoot? She was totally done in.

  19. Love all of the cat photos, but especially that last one!

I think keeping my blog fresh is the aspect that I find the most challenging. I don't want to change things that I like, but then I also don't want to get in a rut.

  20. Alyce,

Thanks! I love that last photo, too. You can really see exhaustion written all over Isabel's face!

Your blog is always entertaining. I don't think you have any worries. Same here, though. I like what I do, but I don't want it to become so repetitive in format and variety that it could be described as dull.
