Cat things that made us Wahoo!, this week:
1. Fiona survived her shots!!! Wahoo! Last year, she had a very bad reaction to her vaccinations, so this year she had to have two shots one week, two the next and stay at the vet's for half a day so they could watch her for trouble. The first time I went to pick her up, I was told she was, "mad as heck," but she was obviously thrilled to see me when I picked her up and chattered happily all the way home. This week, she was so anxious to go home that she got a little ahead of the guys who were trying to load her into her carrier and started to jump in before they were ready.
Here she's being silly in the old-towel cabinet (going to donate the contents of this, soon):
2. Isabel is a nut, Part 1: When I made the bed, I had to make the entire thing around Izzy. She had a rollicking good time chasing the sheets as I snapped them and diving under the covers. She even attempted to take a nap under the bedspread.
3. Isabel is a nut, Part 2: Izzy loves Daddy's new tree saw. In fact, she was a little possessive of it, when it came out of the box.

In other news:
- A single book arrived unexpectedly on my doorstep: A final copy of Heading Out to Wonderful by Robert Goolrick from Algonquin. Can't wait to dig into this one!
- I just finished reading Next to Love by Ellen Feldman, a book that follows three friends who are left behind when their men go off to fight in WWII and the aftermath into the 50s and 60s.
- Normally, I balance several books at once but lately I've been reading one at a time. I have no idea why.
- Weirdest dream I've had, recently: I dreamed that I stabbed a piece of broccoli, held up the fork and said to my husband, "Is this a cruciferous vegetable?" He replied, "Yes, it is. It's the only green cruciferous vegetable." In the morning, I looked up cruciferous vegetables and found that broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage are cruciferous. Weird the things your brain pulls out of the files to play with at night.
May your days be filled with wahoos!

Congrats to Fiona for surviving her shots. There's nothing like a trip to the vet to make a cat realize how much they love us. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou have smart dreams. I never have dreams like that!
Thanks! Very exciting that Fi did so well. I was nervous. She was all full of gushy love, both days. So funny!
DeleteThat was a very unusual dream. I don't know where I've read about cruciferous veggies but I had to laugh when I looked them up and found out my brain was mostly right. Except, cabbage is green, isn't it? I'm not much of a cabbage eater.
I'm glad to know Fiona's shots went well. Our dog had a reaction to a shot years ago and has had to divide her shots up ever since.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm glad to know having the shots divided has continued to work for your dog. Poor Fi had a nasty open wound for a couple of months, last year. Just as it would start to heal, she'd scratch it open. We were lucky she didn't have to get a cone.
DeleteI love that the kitty loves the saw. I would have expected the box to be a bigger hit than the saw for a cat, but if there is one thing I have learned, it's that cats will always surprise you. But I am sure you already knew that! Great post and photos today!
ReplyDeleteThe saw was only a temporary hit, since it ended up going out the door to trim the low branches of our oaks (they're so huge that even the low branches need an extending saw) and then on to the garage. There was a little rubber part she liked to chew and I had to turn it over when I discovered she'd done some damage, but even then she was oddly attached to it! So funny. The box is still a hit. She likes to run through it. Fiona can't; she's a bit of a chubster.
DeleteCats are definitely surprising! Thanks, Heather!
Fiona is so photogenic! I loved your broccoli dream!
ReplyDeleteI'll tell Fi you said that. :) That broccoli dream was a hoot. It's wild the things brains play with!
DeleteI always love your cat photos. Strangely enough Casey randomly popped over to investigate.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Casey's smarter than she wants to let on. CAT photo! Must investigate! LOL
DeleteGosh, those are great pics of the kitties! I can't believe how big Fi's eyes look in that first picture (amongst the towels). And I love that last close-up. Superb!
ReplyDeleteI think we have the same matelasse coverlete, only ours is a sage green. I love it!
Thanks, Les!
DeleteFiona's eyes look freaky-huge when she opens them wide, like that. So funny. I've been having loads of fun taking kitty close-ups. I'm working on trying to get nice backgrounds but herding cats to the background . . . well, you know how successful that would be. LOL I just have to wait till they're lying still in a place I can toss up a prop.
Really? I love that bedspread. I chose blue because it was originally on Kiddo's Bed and he likes blue. But, now he does something really bizarre, instead, so I've inherited (for the time being, anyway). He's rejected sheets and just throws a fluffy comforter over his bed, then wraps in it like a mummy. Strange. But, go ahead and try to tell a 6-foot, 200-pound guy how to sleep in his own bed. Not happening!
I absolutely ADORE that last photo of Fiona!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Q!
