On a related note, I've always found it fascinating that the illustration of a woman's hair will often reflect the time period of cover publication (the same is often true in movies) rather than the actual time period in which the book is set. Interesting, no?

My hair is actually fixed very similar to this today (every day, who am I kidding?). ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL I know what you mean, Andiloo! I don't think mine is quite as curly as yours but it is definitely wild. The ribbon is what really dates that picture, in my humble opinion.
DeleteI have this book on my re-read shelf. Have you seen the movie? (The old one from the 40's or 50's, not the new version.) I remember it well, and it didn't follow the book (of course) so I was disappointed.
ReplyDeleteThere's a movie? No, I haven't seen it. Must find! It's been a long time since I read the book, so it probably won't drive me nuts to watch it, if I don't reread anytime soon. I <3 old movies.
DeleteI've noticed that in movies as well. Check out the feathered mess that Luke Skywalker is sporting, etc.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, Luke and his futuristic feathered hairdo. LOL Classic.
