For Sneaky Bookshelf Peekers
Thought you'd like to look at a shelf or two from my house.
Pardon the lousy grammar from earlier in the day, if you saw this one pre-edit. I said I hadn't read most of these books (but I adore Nick Hornby). Actually, I've read more of them than I realized. A good portion of this particular shelf came from library sales and a fantastic book stock at a salvage store.

Oooh! I love looking at other people's bookshelves! What a fun post. Let's see. I have Fall on Your Knees and Don't Look Now in my stacks. I see you have a Clyde Edgerton book. I read Walking Across Egypt last February and didn't care for it (gave it a rare C). I've only read one by Hornby (How To Be Good) and didn't care too much for it, either. All the Pretty Horses is one I've read and loved. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI'll post another pic in a bit, Les. I'm doing three things at once, here. :) How to Be Good is the only Hornby I haven't fallen in love with and I didn't finish it but keep thinking I'll try, again. You'd probably like The Polysyllabic Spree, if I were to guess at which Hornby book might thrill you. More forthcoming. :)
ReplyDeleteAdding it (The Polysyllabic Spree) to my TBR list. Thanks for the recommendation, you enabler, you!
ReplyDeleteOopsy. Enabler, huh? That sounds bad. LOL I hope you like it, Les. :)
ReplyDeleteOh and Les, if you like The Polysyllabic Spree, the next book of his columns from the Believer mag will be out soon, called Housekeeping vs. the Dirt! :P
ReplyDeleteNat,
ReplyDeleteI am dying to read Housekeeping vs. the Dirt!! Thanks for the reminder that it's coming out soon!!!
No problem! Always glad to enable! :P
ReplyDeleteI'm really looking forward to it too! I read Julie Orringer's book based mainly on Hornby's glowing rec. in The Polysyllabic Spree and so far it's my favourite read this year!
Nat,
ReplyDeleteWe're like a cluster of enablers, here. LOL
Is that How to Breathe Underwater you're referring to? I haven't read that one, but it's on my wish list, thanks to Mr. Hornby. I'm glad to hear you loved it!!!
