Happy Monday!! Hope everyone had a fun weekend. We spent our weekend in Oxford, MS where youngster had a swim meet and eldest son attends school. While in Oxford, we made the requisite visits to Square and Off-Square Books (and other fun Oxford spots). The photo below shows Mamasita, the Off-Square store cat, chasing a ball through the store.
Here's a shot of one of the wonderful little corners in the totally awesome Square Books:
And, one at the coffee bar:
Hope to get around to writing some reviews, tonight, and start visiting everyone. We finally got DSL!! Yahoo! Now, if I can just find the time to sit still long enough to bop around!! More later!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Square Books! I live 45 minutes away! :)
ReplyDeleteMaggie,
ReplyDeleteYou're a lucky chick!! It's about a 3.5 hour drive, so we don't make it to Oxford very often but we always have to stop in at Square and Off-Square, of course! :)
That is a very nice book store. :)
ReplyDeleteDSL is worth its weight in gold! Wait, does DSL have a weight? lol.
ReplyDeleteNice pix! Oooh, that's what I should do for my Booking on Thurs post. Take pix of the local bookstores. I wonder if Serendipity is open Wednesday? That is one labyrinth of a store.
Krista,
ReplyDeleteThat's actually two separate bookstores - one is their used and remaindered books, plus some other fun stuff. Both are wonderful!!
Carrie,
You're so funny! Yep, definitely worth . . . well, maybe my weight in gold. Oh, geez, that's a lot of gold. LOL But, wow, it's so nice not to have to dial up and wait and hang up and dial up and wait and wait and wait for things to load. I can see my internet habits are going to change. And, my house will probably get cleaner because of the time I'm saving. I hope. LOL
Ooh, I want to see your Serendipity store!!!
Man, is there ANYTHING better than a great bookstore??? I just can't think of a thing.....
ReplyDeleteGreat pics as usual, Nancy. I even recognized a few books on the shelves that I've read. :)
ReplyDeleteYAY for DSL!!! You'll never go back to land-lines, I promise you. You'll pack up and move to a different city if you have to, but you'll never go back! :)
Time to go respond to all the comments on my blog. I've been lazy. Ditched my blog for baking/cooking this weekend. My hubby's happy.
I love when bookstores have resident animals! One I used to visit in Charlotte has a couple cats and a very big bunny.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm ever in Oxford, I know where to go!
Lisa,
ReplyDeleteNope, there's nothing better as far as I know. :)
Les,
Thanks and cool! The photos are a little fuzzy; I'm surprised you recognized anything.
I'd move to a different city *anyway*, but you're right . . . I could never go back. Dial-up was miserable and it was bizarre how things just got worse in the last few months. I feel like I've been sprung from a cage. LOL
Oh, yeah, bet the hubby had a great weekend. We had such terrific food in Oxford. I took a photo of my bagel in Bottletree Bakery - need to decide where to post that so you can see it. :)
Lesley,
I love resident animals, too! They tend to be very gentle, I've found. I've never heard of a store bunny! How fun!! There were three cats in the window of a print store next to Off-Square. Oxford is a blast to visit, if only to see all the friendly store cats. :) But, there are lots of other good reasons to visit Oxford.
That's such a great bookstore! Wish I could visit.
ReplyDeleteAnd yay about the DSL- you must be ecstatic! :)
Nat,
ReplyDeleteYou'd have so much fun between petting the store cat and browsing. :)
Yep, I'm ecstatic about the DSL! I need to get the hubby to quit taking over my computer, though!!
Sigh. It's beautiful. Love the picture with the cat. I remember when the county library in Sedalia had a resident cat.
ReplyDeleteHow cool! I miss book stores in English. I need to find an English only bookstore over here just to browse.
ReplyDeleteDSL finally! LOL
ReplyDeleteCute little store too!
Bybee,
ReplyDeleteCats and books go perfectly together in photographs, don't they? I've yet to see one in a library, but I can imagine it would make the library seem even cozier.
aka_Nik,
I sometimes forget you're in another country. Yep, you need an English bookstore to browse in or frequent hops over to England. I'd go for frequent hops, but I'm an Anglophile.
Angela,
Yes!! Yippee for DSL! :)

ReplyDeleteHeather,
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I've been a fly on the wall in OCR for a while. :)
Looks like heaven to me!

Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed. :)
Puss and books ! You can not beat'em ! I live in Charleston (SC) and there is a great bookstore here called Boomer's Books. It is named after a cat !
ReplyDeletePaul,
ReplyDeleteHow totally cool. Now, I'm all ready to visit Charleston. :)
