25 Years and not a single bullet

You can see we had a Baptist wedding from the toast (punch - very good punch, actually).

I have to run the kiddo to the music store in Jackson because the school has not managed to purchase enough lyres and he kind of needs his music for marching, as it's not yet memorized. Hopefully, I'll get a review of Lesley Castle posted, later this evening. Hubby and I are going to the French restaurant for bad service and decent food in celebration of having survived each other for a quarter century, after we drop kiddo off at swim practice, tonight.

Our secret for wedded bliss: When we married, we agreed that we'd give our marriage a 25-year trial run and if things didn't work out, we'd give it another 25. Also, it really does help not to keep any guns in the house.

Gotta dash!

Happy Anniversary! I like your trial run plan. Looks like it worked for you. Have a great dinner.

  4. Congrats! You two were just the most darling bride and groom. Still are, really. Have a super celebration!

  5. Bridget,

Thanks. Yes, it's amazing anyway, but particularly shocking that he's tolerated me all these years. ;)

    Chris,

    Thank you times two. :)

    Lynne,

Thanks. Yeah, it seems to have worked, so far! Neither one of us has ever packed a bag. LOL I'm looking forward to the dinner. The highway was bogged, so kiddo and I had to skip the trip to Jackson, but it's so hot I'm not sure I really wanted to be out, anyway!

  6. Aw, thanks Kookie. I suppose I ought to go find that card and sign it. I was thinking about dropping by Williams-Sonoma to buy something for the Master Chef Hubby, but that idea was quickly skewered by a highway log-jam. Yeeks. I need lessons in time management. It's probably a really bad idea to wait till the actual day to buy the gift.

  7. Happy, happy anniversary you two! I'm glad you both survived. ;) Enjoy your dinner.

  9. Les,

Thanks. I hope you didn't find that bullet comment totally disturbing.

I drool just thinking about the French restaurant's bread pudding. Mmmm.

    Amy,

Thanks times two. Most of our pictures were awful, but I do like this one.

Congratulations! Seems like a decent amount of time for a trial run.

My parents claim they stayed together because whoever left got us kids and after that, it was easy.

  12. Happy anniversary! The good food outweighs the bad service, huh? Must be really great food, then!

  13. SuziQ,

    Thank you. :)

    Carrie,

Thanks. I had to laugh at your parents' agreement about the one who left taking the kids. Hubby's always figured I'd never leave him because I couldn't go without them but they were too much trouble to deal with on my own! Yep, that'll do it!

  14. Bonnie,

We can pretty much get bad service anywhere in town. Might as well get a decent meal, right? It is good food. I'm particularly fond of the bread pudding. :)

  15. LOL, I love that marriage advice. If B and I ever take the plunge I'll suggest that tactic. :D

  16. Congratulations. Great picture. Did you happen to take a "now" picture to post also?

  17. Happy 25th! That's a great picture! Hope you have a lovely dinner.

  18. Andi,

It's especially good advice if both parties agree. Steal away. :)

    Framed,

Thank you and heavens, no. We need some major maintenance, here, but he's still got quite a bit of his hair and most of his original teeth and I'm still blonde, so we're both happy. ;)

    Nat,

Thank you. We had a great meal, but I think someone must have warned them we were coming because our server had us pegged as the Invisible Couple well in advance, from all appearances. I kept telling hubby, "Tackle her! Tackle her!" We sat there for 30 minutes after we finished, just praying for the bill. LOL Life is so fun.

  19. Happy Silver!

You honestly don't look old enough... as long as you don't include those young men who cannot possibly be your sons!

  20. CJ,

Thank you and thank you. One can never grow tired of being told she doesn't look her age. :) The kiddos do kind of hint at my age, don't they? However, as you can see, I was plainly a 4-year-old at the time of my wedding and they're both adopted.

  21. Congratulations, Nancy! My husband said we can't have a gun in the house because I'd probably shoot him thinking he was a prowler. LOL I wouldn't want one anyway, thankfully. :-)

  22. Thanks, Wendy. We just figure if we got a gun someone would break in and steal it. They're high-theft items. I don't have a diamond, either. My engagement ring was stolen when we were still living in Tulsa and I never wanted to waste the money on a replacement. I have cubic zirconia, instead. I'm very easily satisfied. LOL

  28. Nik,

I have a feeling you'll still be together and happy in 24 years (although you will have had numerous murderous thoughts about his mother). And, thank you. :)

    Marg,

Thank you! We're kinda proud of ourselves. LOL

    Chris,

Thank you! Hear, hear to the next 25. :)

    Indigo,

Thanks! It's kind of strange, like starting over again. Okay, on to the 50-year anniversary. LOL

    Heather,

    Thank you. :)

  31. Congrats! Hubby and I made it 4 years this year. I would like to renew our wedding vows in Ireland but we'll see. :)Maybe for the 10 year annivesary. :) And as for muderous thoughts. lol It happens.

  32. Thanks, Krista.

Ireland sounds really good, right now. I'd go to Ireland for a break from the heat. Or, just about anywhere else cool.

  33. Not to worry. A year or two ago, I would have cringed, but I think I'm to the point now where I just let that sort of thing roll off. I knew you meant it in jest. Right? ;0

  34. Congratulations!!! Our number 7 is Sunday.

And just what is it about those snooty French? LOL Hope you had fun.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Heather,

Happy early anniversary! 7's a good number; it must be your lucky year. :)

There's only one French guy and he does the cooking. LOL They were quite busy, which surprised us. Busy on Tuesday? I swear we became invisible the moment we were seated. It was quite something.

  36. Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your wedding photograph.

  37. Thanks, Tara. I probably should have listed the photograph as one of my historical documents, too. LOL

  38. Happy (belated) Anniversary!! :D

  39. Congratulations, you two!! You should be very proud to have made it 25 years! You will make it another 25 without a doubt! Great picture!

You guys looked great in that picture - I'm sure you still do. :)

  41. Thank you Kris!

We both look like we've been inflated. I think a little work is in order. LOL

  42. A belated congrats, bookfool!
25 years is awesome, if you ask me... :)

I just realized that you got married only a week after my parents :)

  43. Kathrin,

That makes me feel kind of old. for some reason. LOL Thanks. It's gone really, really fast.

    ReplyDelete
  44. No, don't feel old! You're not old!

You know - I'm (most of the time) the baby in a group of people!
