Happy New Year!

Please pardon my continued absence!  I've been enjoying my time with family and have to take advantage while husband is off to get his help with chores around the house, as he travels quite a bit.  This is one of my favorite moments with the kitties, from Christmas break:

After dressing Fiona up in Christmas bells, Isabel came running to check on her sister.  I could almost see the word cloud above her head:  "Oh, Sister, Mom is torturing you?  You okay?"

I've finished my first book of the year and tried some recipes from a new cookbook received over the holidays.  I'll update my sidebar when I have a free moment so you can see what I've been reading, and will report on those recipes when I return - probably early next week. As soon as I'm certain my 2013 reading list is complete I'll post that, as well.

Wishing my readers an exciting, joyful year full of fantastic reads and the building of beautiful memories!  Back soon!

  1. Okay. So what was your first book of the year? And was it any good? :)

    1. The first book I finished in 2014 was that book that's been lingering in my sidebar for almost a month - Ancient Egypt: Everyday Life in the Land of the Nile. It's a little dry and textbook-like, at times (so it took a while before I was willing to set everything aside to focus on it), but I found the information fascinating enough that I kept spitting out factoids to my poor husband. If I could fly to London to see the Egyptian exhibit in the British Museum *right now*, I would.
