What a strange title. I would never have looked at this book if it hadn't been recommended to me as a title for my feminist reading. And, yes, Isabel did knock the book on the floor. You can get away with a lot when you're cute.
Books finished since last Malarkey:
- Shrill by Lindy West
- Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
Shrill is my feminist title for the month and I liked it a lot, although occasionally I thought she droned on a bit. I'd never heard of Lindy West but she's a writer and comedienne. She can be offensive but in a good way; she's bold to make her point, rather than just being offensive for the sake of a laugh, in other words.
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is a book I just grabbed at random because I was in the mood for YA, not thinking about the fact that it was a perfect choice for Gay Pride Month. I couldn't put it down. Such a good story, very emotional.

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on The Women in the Castle. I love World War II novels, but this one just didn't grab me.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get far before I switched my focus to Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows, so we'll see. It didn't immediately grab me, either, but I *liked* what little I read. It just didn't suck me in to the point of feeling like I couldn't put it down.

ReplyDeleteYep, I'm not accepting as many books, right now, because I may take a month to 6 weeks away from the blog during the hot months. Every now and then, I need a break. It looks like a nice, light read about a heavy topic (a YA about a rape). So, it may be a quick read but I'm sure it won't be an easy one.
DeleteI don't know but I think the "knock it on the floor" game is adorable! I often will put things on the edge of some place the cat is sitting, just so she can knock them off for fun. That was not my intent, though, in this case. I was just trying to pose the book.
