So, it's official. I'm joining the 2nd Canadian Reading Challenge, Eh?, which runs from July 1, 2008 to July 1, 2009 (click on link for official rules).
I've chosen Option 13: The Free Spirit because I'm so free-spirited I can't be bothered to write a list. I'm just going to choose the 13 titles as I go. I already own quite a few books by Canadians. First up, Anne of Green Gables, of course.
Reminder to self: Email John each time you complete a book (jmutford (at) hotmail (dot) com).
Self: Thanks! I needed that.
Just so you know, I'm also in this challenge for the chance to say "toque" repeatedly.
Off to read, eh?
Bookfool with Snazzy New Maple-Leaf Button
Are you going to come to PEI to read Anne of GG? That would be cool.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you don't have to join a challenge just to read Anne of GG, but I'm glad you are joining.
See ya in the Canadian aisle, eh?
Raidergirl,
ReplyDeleteI wish!! It looks like I'm not going to get a vacation at all, this year. School begins August 4!!!I've told my husband that I want to go to PEI for vacation, someday, though. He said he'll look into it.
Don't have to join the challenge, but it's what finally got me to pick up Anne of GG!! 'Bout time! :)
LOL! Yep, see you in the Canadian aisle. Pssst, I've got a Canadian Tire dollar my son brought me. Someday, I'm going to laminate it and turn it into a bookmark!
And you joined up on our Independence Day, LOL!
ReplyDeleteRe Free Spirit: May I suggest to your free-spirited self that you might choose a Robertson Davies novel? He's my new discovery and he's terrific!
Bybee,
ReplyDeleteI totally missed the association!
I'll have to see if I have any Robertson Davies novels. I'll bet I do. I'm that bad -- shelves everywhere. You'd be in hog heaven in my house. :)
LOL. Glad you're joining in. And I'm looking forward to seeing how you work 'toque' into your posts! ;)
ReplyDeleteNat,
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think it's going to be fun. I'm going to have to be really creative to work toque into my text. We'll see. :)
A good time to read Anne of Green Gables-- its 100th anniversary.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the challenge-- glad you succumbed!
John,
ReplyDeleteI'll bet raidergirl has mentioned the 100th anniversary -- I'd totally forgotten, but I know I saw mention somewhere. How perfect! :)
Thanks. I'm excited about the reading. Every now and then I've picked up a book and set it aside thinking, "I'm going to do the Canadian reading challenge, so I'll wait." No excuses, now. Plus, I get to say "toque" for a whole year.
I guess that means I'm not as wimpy as you are. ;) I really would like to do this challenge but just can't commit to any more (except Bellezza's Japanese Lit challenge which I begrudgingly just joined). What is wrong with us??? Have a great time with this one--one day I'll have to make a little more time for it.
ReplyDeleteTrish,
ReplyDeleteWell, at least I've only given in to two. I've got to finish up the Southern Reading Challenge. I can't remember when it ends, but it seems like it should be soon.
