I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it.... People think pleasing God is all God care about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back. ~Alice Walker, The Color Purple, 1982
Two reviews forthcoming. I've been waiting for the hubby to return from Hawaii so that I can ask him to repeat some thoughts on High Altitude Leadership because I'm, unfortunately, rather forgetful. I've also finished Walking Through Walls by Philip Smith and will try to get around to writing up that review, this weekend.
Currently reading (and enjoying all):
Occasional Therapy for Your Midlife Years
Far World: Water Keep
The Darcys and the Bingleys
None are handy, or I'd tell you the names of the authors -- of course, we all know J. Scott Savage wrote Far World, after reading about a million blog reviews, right? The others . . . sorry. Brain drain. I'll tell you later.
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, bookish weekend!
Oh I love The Color Purple--so much simple truth in the book (well, and some complicated truth as well).ReplyDelete
Have a great weekend and happy reading to you, too.
I haven't read The Color Purple, but the moment I saw that quote I knew I'm going to have to find a copy. If you loved it, I'm sure it's great!!!
Thank you! I'm off to read. The husband came home and wham. Out like a light. I guess his thoughts on that book we need to review will have to wait till tomorrow! LOL
That's a great quote. Haven't read the book yet but it's on my list.ReplyDelete
Have a great weekend!
It's on mine now, too, even though I hate vernacular. Thanks! You, too!ReplyDelete
Occasional therapy? That's what I need. Have a good weekend!ReplyDelete
Don't we all. Thanks, babe, you too!
So pretty! I've never read The Color Purple but I suppose I should at some point.ReplyDelete
Thanks. Yes, that's one heck of a teaser quote, isn't it? It makes me want to run right out and find a copy.ReplyDelete
I like your quote, but the lack of grammar in The Color Purple was really, really hard for me. Being a tight-assed teacher, and all.ReplyDelete
I have trouble with lousy grammar, too. Plus, I'm not a fan of vernacular -- in fact, I usually find it unbearable. But, the quote does make me want to read the book!
Purple is my favorite color and I love this quote.ReplyDelete
I love purple, too. :)
