Sheesh. Can't sleep.

Since I can't sleep (again - so sick of being totally wired at night), I decided to do a little blog-hopping and it was going great until I got to Suey's blog. And, then Book Nook Les's. I couldn't comment on either, but then I went back to fetch links to both blogs and I think I figured out the commenting problem. It's not a Blogger issue -- it's a Google Reader issue. For some reason, the clicking-through business is not working quite right.

If you're having this same trouble and you use Google Reader, try just typing in the URL to whatever blog you're having trouble with and see if that works. As for me . . . I'm going to try to get some sleep, now. Tomorrow, I'll comment on Suey's post about supporting local authors and Les's post on 20th Century Ghosts (a book that impressed me -- Les even quoted me on that). Nighty-night!

  1. Yay! I'm glad you got the comment issue figured out. I can't wait to read what you have to say about JH's book.

I hope you had a restful night!

  2. I wish I'd known you were awake - we could have kept each other company. People who can sleep don't realize what a blessing it is.

  3. Les,

Be patient, please. I have a "do list" as long as my arm. I've just wrapped up 10 swap books to mail, the cat has to go to the vet, I've got a Dr. appointment, and we got a phone call saying our treadmill will be delivered on Friday -- so I'm going to work much faster on the clean-up. I've been making quite a lovely mess. :) I did love Joe Hill's writing.

I had a terrible night. Kiddo and I were both awake till 4am. He's finished his finals for the day and gone to bed!! Wish I could, too.

    Kathy,

Ooooh, I wish I'd known you were up, too! Maybe I'll hop over to Twitter the next time I can't sleep. I didn't think to check Twitter to see if anyone I knew was online. It was a sucky night for both the teenager and myself, although I did manage to quickly read another book (children's - just 91 pages) and that means I can donate it, yay.

My husband falls asleep the moment his head hits the pillow. Yeah, they have no idea. He tells me to "just turn out the light" and I've been trying to explain for years -- I have to wind down first or I'll just toss and turn in the dark. At least with the light on I can read.

  4. Do you remember how I was always having trouble sleeping? Up incredibly early, waking up almost every hour, etc? I've never been one to sleep late and for as long as I can remember I've been up between 4am - 6am every day (closer to the 4am than the 6am). Well..I've been making an effort to eat healthy for the last couple of months. It was incredibly hard to stop drinking soda and eating candy..but I've kicked the habit (for the most part). In the last month..I've only had soda twice and the last time was on Nov. 22nd. Since about the middle of November..I've been sleeping till 6am or 6:30 almost every single day! I used to be able to read for at least 30 min if not longer when I went to bed, now I'm lucky if I get in 10 min before falling asleep. I'm loving that I'm sleeping a heck of a lot better, but at the same time, I'm not getting in a walk/run in the mornings like I was. I guess I might have to actually set an alarm to wake me up..something I usually only do once or twice a year.

As for the no candy - I slip and have a piece of chocolate once in awhile...but that's maybe once a week - sometimes not even - compared to at least once a day.

    It's a struggle..but so far I love how much better I feel.

ok..enough rambling on your blog comments. lol! Hope you catch up on your sleep.

  5. Kris,

Very cool! I think in my case it's because I've got such a huge amount of stuff to get done in a short amount of time, though. Last night, I was fussing around because I bought Kiddo the perfect Christmas gift and when I hid it, I hid it too well. I can't find it, anywhere!!! So, I spent a couple of hours sort of tossing the place. Plus, our treadmill is coming on Friday and that means I've got two days to clear out a space. Argh! I just can't settle down at night, thinking of all the things I have to do. I think after Christmas it'll improve because I was getting to where I was falling asleep very easily. I'm not a constant insomniac, anymore, which is a relief. The bad nights suck, but it's nice to know not every night is going to be a bad night.

  6. Maybe you already do this, but have you tried clicking on the title of the post while in google reader? It always takes me to the blog and then I can comment.

Ignore if I am being to obvious, but once I start doing something on the computer, I never realize there are other ways to do the task. And I don't always take the most obvious way.

You should have called me! We could have chatted for hours last night...by the way, if you received a small package from me, and you're unclear on what the thing is in the red tissue, email me so I can explain. ;)

  8. Raidergirl,

That's what I usually do -- click on the title of the post. Lately, it's been giving me an error message when I click on the individual post, so I've gone to clicking on the blog name. That's a little bit of a nuisance if you're trying to read older posts but you can always page down to get to older posts, of course. I think something in there (in the google links) is causing me to get logged out from google, though, when I go to certain blogs, since I discovered that going to a blog through my blogroll works fine.

I always appreciate advice!! I'm tech stupid -- I have a tendency to play around and figure out the simple things, but I always need help, so never feel bad offering me advice!

  9. Bellezza!

You, Kathy and I could have had a party. If only we'd known. Middle-aged womanhood does terrible things to us, doesn't it?

I got a package! I'm unclear. I shall email you and thank you!! You'll get a proper thanks, later, but thank you!! (I'm moving slowly in 2009. Someone got rid of my "fast" button.)

  10. Boo to insomnia! It's been plaguing me lately too.

  11. I love that picture. It described me during the afternoon Friday and today. lol

I am not a night person. I am usually asleep around 11. Sometimes I will toss and turn worrying about work related things. They have no idea how much I think about things or if they do they think I am crazy maybe. I suppose I should try not to care so much and let things bother me. :)

  12. Rosemary,

I'm sorry you've had insomnia. It's such a nuisance. Congrats on your job change!!!

    Brittanie,

    Isn't that a funny pic?

I've always been slow to fall asleep at night. Before I drove my husband nuts, I drove my parents crazy. I was doing better for a while, but I do have trouble shutting my brain down when there's a lot to do. Work can do that to you. Sometimes it's just hard to stop thinking and relax!!

  13. I won't lie: When I saw the title I pictured you rocking back and forth like Bart Simpson.
"Can't sleep. Clown will eat me. Can't sleep. Clown will eat me."
    I watch too much TV.

  14. Em,

LOL! You might be right; time to cut back on the TV. ;) I just had a do-list as long as my arm for Tuesday. Funny how when you know you need sleep because you have so much to do, that's when you can't relax.
