10:55 and I feel like a slug . . .

. . . but I'm having fun read-a-thoning. A literal pain in the neck convinced me it was time to get up and stretch. I've been reading Dewey's Nine Lives by Vicki Myron for the past couple of hours. I've got at least another 100 pages to go and I was yawning and aching, so I got dressed and whined at my husband, who promptly offered to fix me a coffee. Aww, how sweet is he?

Isabel has continued to keep me company, lolling around on the bed after a good 5 minutes of tail chasing that probably did some serious damage to the blanket. You can tell I don't care. It's just a blanket. We only use them for about 3 months a year, anyway. Fiona returned to my desk chair after we all had our morning snack (Me: cheese & onion sandwich; Cats; Iams chunky stinky stuff). The kitty girls are playing chase, now.

I'm enjoying Dewey's Nine Lives immensely and excited at the thought that the read-a-thon may free me up to start an entirely new set of books. I think the coffee is working. Was just a little worried that we might be headed toward nap-a-thon territory. Also, I think my seriously introverted husband is really, really enjoying the lack of chatter. He'd already warned me he was going to be in need of some recharging time, so this is great for both of us.
Back to reading!

  2. Christina,

Thanks! Wasn't it nice of Izzy to pose with my current read? She's in hyper mode, now. Kitties are such fun.

  3. People keep asking me why I exercise during readathon, and it's because I don't want to get sore laying around on my awful couches!

  4. Amanda,

I should do that, too. My neck problem is a recurring thing, so I took a mild muscle relaxant and painkiller to make sure it doesn't get worse. And, now the world is wobbling. But, we'll see how it goes.

Exercise is always a good thing. It keeps blood going to your brain, too, so you'll read more and retain better. I'm hoping to get in some walking time on the treadmill, later.

  5. Your husband made you coffee? I made coffee--just for me since hubby doens't drink on the weekend--and as soon as it beeped done he poured himself a cup. Um, thanks? :)

And hey--that's not Fi! But a cutie none the less. Maggie just made her appearance, too.

Hope everything's going great my dear!

  6. I really must read some Dewey!

Isabel is gorgeous. How come you get elegant, feminine kitties and I get the rough and tumble, destroy everything in sight kind?

  7. Nice photo! Hope you're clear of nap-a-thon territory. :) I took a walk earlier to drop a card in the post-box and that was nice.

  9. Trish,

You need to train that husband. LOL Mine adores his coffee maker and I think he's just ever so grateful that the wife let him indulge himself (it's a nice little espresso machine) so he happily fixes me coffee unless he's just exhausted.

You have to page down to see Fi. But, she'll probably show up, again, later. We'll see. :)

All is well, except for that bit where I toppled while trying to get down a print to measure. Ouch, ouch.

    Jenclair,

I only liked the cat portions of the original book; I'm enjoying this set of stories even better. You should definitely give Dewey a go!

Thank you! Well, Izzy is pretty rough and tumble but she is rather delicate-looking and you have to hold her tenderly or she objects with the most pitiful little cry.

We hear a lot of crashing noises, these days, but when she's worn out, Izzy is a super reading buddy! I don't know how I got so lucky, but I have terrific, very companionable cats!

    Christy,

So far, so good. I think my neck pain might be a bad omen, though. Sometimes I get neck pain before a migraine and I'm getting a little queasy (another sign) so I'm going to have to take something to ward off a headache. We'll see if I'll be able to keep my eyes open!

A walk outside sounds awesome. We have to hop in the car to go for a walk in the park, thanks to our lack of leash laws (and no sidewalks . . . and it's hot out, anyway). I'm kind of envious that you can walk somewhere to drop off a letter!

  11. Amy,

I thought that was pretty funny, reading a cat with a cat nearby. Hence the photo. :) Thanks! Happy reading to you, too!

    Searcher Gurl,

Oh, wow, 3:30 is just too late/early for me, these days. Gettin' old. Thanks for the encouragement!

  13. Melissa,

I hadn't thought of that, but I've found myself thinking about Dewey-the-blogger a lot, today. You're right, very apropos! :)

  14. Yes, Jenclair, read some Dewey.

Bookfool, take a gander at my Kiki Cat reading the original Dewey book. You may remember she is commenting on this book as she goes through it and writing about it on Caturdays. Here's the link:
